Ebrington Medical Implements Batch and Lot Tracking Across Product Lines

Why Batch and Lot Tracking Matters in Healthcare Supply Chains

At Ebrington Medical, we're continually investing in systems and processes that strengthen our operational capability and support the healthcare organisations we serve.

As our product portfolio continues to grow, including the addition of our Vernacare distributorship and hundreds of new catalogue lines, we have implemented batch and lot tracking across applicable product ranges within our ERP system.

While much of this work happens behind the scenes, it plays an important role in product traceability, stock management and customer support.

What Is Batch and Lot Tracking?

Many healthcare consumables are supplied with a GS1 2D barcode that contains key product information, including:

  • Product identification
  • Batch or lot number
  • Manufacturing information
  • Expiry date

These barcodes help healthcare organisations and suppliers maintain accurate records throughout the product lifecycle.

Why Does It Matter?

Traceability is an important part of modern healthcare supply chains.

By recording batch and lot information within our ERP system, we can improve visibility of products moving through our warehouse and into healthcare environments. This supports several key operational objectives:

Improved Stock Rotation

Like any well-managed inventory operation, ensuring older stock is supplied before newer stock helps minimise waste and supports effective stock management.

Batch and lot tracking helps ensure products are rotated appropriately, particularly where expiry dates are a consideration.

Enhanced Product Traceability

Should a manufacturer issue a product notification, safety alert or recall, batch-level records provide greater visibility into which products may be affected.

This allows for a more efficient and targeted response.

Supporting Customer Confidence Healthcare organisations increasingly expect greater transparency and traceability throughout their supply chains.

Implementing batch and lot tracking strengthens our ability to support customers with product information when required and reinforces our commitment to operational excellence.

Investing in Better Healthcare Supply

While customers may never directly see the systems operating behind the scenes, they play an important role in ensuring products are managed, tracked and supplied effectively.

The implementation of batch and lot tracking is one of several ongoing improvements designed to strengthen Ebrington Medical's operational capability as we continue to support healthcare providers across primary care, private healthcare and community settings.

Because healthcare supply isn't just about products.

It's about having the systems, processes and visibility needed to support safe and reliable care delivery.
